Our emu are the main reason why we have our little farm and they are dearly loved by us. Our emu are pets, but we do breed and raise chicks in extremely limited quantities. Currently we do not sell fertile eggs or chicks to the public. Emu are not a pet for everyone, as they are large birds, reaching 5 feet in height. They are able to look you in the eye while standing and are able to kick in all directions while jumping several feet in the air! Our emu are generally approachable, but the females tend to be a lot more fiesty to handle and will run, and trust us, they can RUN! They have three toes with long claws that grip quite well that make them perfect for a pen that isn't of much use to other livestock. Emu are part of the ratite family, which includes other primitive flightless birds such as ostriches, rheas, cassowaries, kiwi and the extinct Moa.
